Tandem 2015 AGM

Tandem Annual Report Well Received And Minister Foley Guest Speaker

Minister Foley, Colin Fryer & Julien McDonald      Minster Foley

Tandem's Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held today at the Amora Walk Hotel in Richmond. As part of the proceedings a new Board was elected, unopposed. All members from the 2014 Board renominated and became the successful incumbents of our 2015 Board. For more information on our Board members, click here.

Our keynote speaker for the day was the Hon. Martin Foley, Minister for Mental Health.

The Minister spoke to guests on the development of 10 Year Mental Health Strategy and was pleased to note that more than 2000 people had actively contributed to its formulation. He assured guests that consultation would continue with Tandem in order to reflect an embedded notion of co-design in the development of Mental Health Policy.

The Minister assured listeners that lived experience was to be taken into services and their design with the rights and role of families and carers enhanced.

'Advocacy' he said, 'is essential to an integrated notion of care ... and the carers' voice is more important than ever'.

Minister Foley then went on to discuss the NDIS roll-out stating that the government is now aware of the impacts that the decommissioning of the PDRSS and the transition to the MHCSS had on service provision and the people for whom it was intended. Making sure that the Victorian care system can support these people will be the challenge; for scope, transition and continued application of a MHCSS as the NDIS comes into effect.

'People not eligible will not be abandoned by this government' he said.
