MI Fellowship//Wellways seek carer leader representatives for their Consumer & Carer Sub-Committee

Wellways (currently trading as MI Fellowship) are seeking new members for the Consumer & Carer Advisory Committee, a sub-committee of the Wellways Board.

Wellways (currently trading as MI Fellowship) are seeking new members for their Consumer & Carer Advisory Committee, a sub-committee of the Wellways Board. This committee provides advice to the Board, including thought leadership on a range of strategic issues relating to Wellways’ delivery of services and systemic advocacy work.

As a national organisation, Wellways is seeking expressions of interest from Consumer and Carer leaders from Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania Queensland and ACT. The committee is comprised of members who have the following experience and skills:

Required:
• Lived experience of mental health issues and/or psychosocial disability, personally or as a carer or family member
• Established networks within the mental health and disability sectors
• Experience in a senior-level role in the mental health or disability sector
• Experience as a “thought leader” in strategic development, research, or political advocacy
• Excellent communication skills
• Understanding of the needs of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in relation to social and emotional wellbeing

Desirable:
• Experience in a governance or advisory role

A note on our name change:
You will note that our name is changing from MI Fellowship to Wellways Australia Limited. Our decision to change the organisational name from MI Fellowship to Wellways reflects our focus on wellbeing and the hope we share with everyone we work with – people affected by mental health issues and other psychosocial disabilities, their families, friends and communities.

The name Wellways has a longstanding association with our peer education programs, and our new name honours our history as an organisation that is shaped and led by people with lived experience. Wellways Australia Limited will continue to trade under the name of MI Fellowship until 30 June 2016, at which time the trading name of the organisation will become Wellways Australia Limited. The public launch of the Wellways name will coincide with the launch of our new website on October 3rd .
