This lecture will describe some of the recent advances in the science of mental illness and new frontiers in technology that give hope for reducing the suffering from serious mental illness.

“Dr Thomas Insel has been one of the most influential leaders in global mental health as Director of the National Institute for Mental Health for over a decade. He is a visionary who is now working to explore exciting new opportunities that the internet and new technologies offer mental health care”, said Professor Pat McGorry AO, Australian of the Year and leading mental health expert.

The 2016 Graeme Clark Oration is the initiative of the Convergence Science Network and the University of Melbourne.
